Job Description
• TorontoWe are looking for a curious and courageous web designer and developer who yearns to know what’s below the fold. You are detail oriented, with an eye for the finer elements of design and coding for performance and beauty. You have a strong desire to explore and integrate new technology and learn on the job. You are vocal and collaborative, willing to work seamlessly with a multi-disciplinary team to contribute your POV on how to use code to enhance brand and advertising strategy for the digital universe. You have relevant training and education, supported by three years’ experience.
Essential Skills:
• HTML5, CSS3, ideally with experience working with SASS, LESS, etc.
• working knowledge of Javascript and JQuery, and facility with third-party plug-in hacks
• basic knowledge of SQL and backend programming languages like C#, PHP, ASP.NET, etc.
• strong responsive design chops and the ability to write code that plays well across all devices and screen sizes
• fluidity with SVN (Git)
• experience creating smooth animations and interactions
• ease in modifying WordPress theme hooks to display data and working with web content management systems (CMS)
• respect for, experience with, and understanding of web design, user experience, and cross-platform compatibility
Best Practices
• awareness of AODA compliance for web, an understanding of accessibility needs, and knowledge of methods to ensure accessibility
• knowledge of methods to ensure browser and device compatibility
• knowledge of methods for gracefully degrading older browsers and displays
• knowledge of file compression techniques for improving speed/performance
Secret Weapons
• Drupal and/or MS Sharepoint experience
• knowledge of SEO and site analytics
• fluid knowledge of social media integration, analytics, and MailChimp
• experience with e-commerce environmental design and integration
