Description

Longwoods Publishing, publishes academic and scientific research, commentary and information related to health sciences, healthcare and more. We require an energetic, full-time publication production designer with a strong interest in technology; who thoroughly understands all components of beautiful design in every medium possible – from magazines and books to websites, social media graphics, photographic wall installations, and signage.

 

 

 

The Publication Production Designer’s responsibilities are:

  • Design, layout and assembly of 5 journals including preparing files for web production, digital editions and print
  • Produce Longwoods’ communications, marketing materials, and projects including newsletters, event materials, brochures, posters, presentations, signage, website graphics, infographics and other projects.
  • Manage relationships and coordinate outside contractors to post editorial content, including images, copy and media files, for web and digital formats, as well as print.
  • Create, implement and maintain graphics, banner ads, logos and design for website
  • Work closely with publishers and editors to develop ideas

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years direct experience in design and production of scholarly publications and related websites
  • Advanced level skills in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Conversant in HTML, XHTML, Dreamweaver, Flash, XML, AJAX, FTP and PHP
  • Knowledge of content management systems, email distribution systems, printing requirements, procedures and workflow
  • Understanding of and experience in corporate branding, layout, colour theory and typography in both print and digital media.
  • Highly motivated and well organized, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritize work, manage deadlines and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail orientated, and have experience working with proofing and preparing files for print and online
  • Excellent communication, project management and problem solving skills
