Located in a great neighbourhood in Hamilton, Ontario we are a boutique marketing studio focused on producing smart, relevant, strategic, and well-executed answers to creative problems. We are looking for an experienced and talented web designer to join our team on an 18 month contract to cover a maternity leave (but we’re growing, so if you’re really good we’re going to want to keep you around). We offer a creative and collaborative office environment, an interesting variety of clients and projects, and the ability for you to make your mark and grow with us.

The right candidate will have the ability to work independently and manage a digital project from conception to execution. We require a high comfort level with design, CSS and the front-end customization of various CMS solutions, such as WordPress and Shopify. We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of the digital design process and a natural attention to detail.

You’ll be asked to:

• Collaborate with the digital marketing team in researching, proposing and developing strategically relevant concepts for online campaigns
• Plan, design, and build websites, landing pages, emails and banner ads
• Ensure all online communications leverage and consistently implement industry and digital best practices
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
• Promote professional growth and help ensure that our digital design team continues to be a high-performing unit
• Maintain positive and collaborative internal and external relationships

We’re looking for:

• Post-secondary education in Digital/Interactive Design or equivalent
• 3-5 years of visual, UI, and UX experience
• A strong portfolio with an emphasis on digital media, mobile, responsive web and UI/UX design best practices
• Familiarity with front end web technologies including HTML / PHP / CSS / JS
• Familiarity with back end CMS platforms including WordPress and Shopify
• Confidence, clarity, and creative ability
• Flexibility and a positive spirit
• Great communication skills
• Energy – the ability to handle lots of projects without getting too frazzled and to get the job done well without missing details

Bonus points if you…

• Have experience working with print design files (we handle a lot of print work too and often pass creative files between departments)
• Have experience in video editing or animation
• Can name at least 7 great restaurants in Hamilton
