MARKETS:
Canada Bread serves major grocery chains, retail outlets and foodservice operations across Canada. The company distributes branded products in the discount, mainstream and super-premium segments, and is the leading producer in most major bakery categories. It also produces private label products for grocery and foodservice outlet.

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Creative Designer is responsible for designing and producing creative and effective consumer, customer and corporate support materials as requested by internal departments primarily the Marketing and Sales teams.  Assist in the coordination of the department workflow and assignments when required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Develop communication materials from existing Canada Bread assets, including Point of Sale materials, trade brochures, ads, social/digital communications and customer presentation materials
  • Deliver creative solutions to meet project objectives by thinking creatively and developing new design concepts, graphics and layouts
  • Estimate, recommend, negotiate, communicate and manage project timelines with stakeholders
  • Maintain and ensure correct applications of  brand standards
  • Ensure all design material achieve consistency, quality and accuracy prior to release of projects
  • Maintain electronic files in adherence to departmental standards
  • Knowledgeable and skillful in identifying  and adapting  to new graphic design trends and technologies used in the creation and production including application software, hardware, photography, digital imaging and communication
  • Collaborating, communicating and providing support effectively to the Marketing & Sales teams
  • Assist in the distribution and coordination of projects to ensure balanced workload by project types, deliverable dates and design strengths and capabilities when required

POSITION OUTCOMES:

Able to achieve “best in class and cost’’ for consumer, customer and corporate print and digital communications.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
 

  • University degree or College Diploma in Graphic Design from an accredited program
  • 4 – 7 years of experience in the graphic design environment for print & digital production
  • Portfolio of work (preferably available on-line) that showcases a variety of materials

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
 

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) and other design programs
  • Web design skills and knowledge of HTML and CSS, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks considered a strong asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Lync) with ability to learn new skills and software
  • Proficient in a MAC environment and comfortable in a PC environment
  • Understanding of print production processes; ability to prepare files for press and digital printing
  • Experience in video post-production editing skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills accompanied by effective listening skills
  • Self-managed, decisive and results-focused with a strong business acumen
  • Well-developed problem-solving, planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with multiple priorities within tight deadlines, process-driven and have strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Experience within the food/consumer packaged goods or retail industry a definite asset
  • Experience in photography and videography is also desirable
  • Experience with 3D rendering software an asset
  • Design studio or agency and/or freelance experience an asset
