Assistant Commercial Decorator

Position Summary

This is a fulltime placement within an existing marketing and design team.  The Assistant Commercial Decorator will report direct to the Creative Director. This position requires great attention to detail, a good sense of current design trends and an ability to communicate ideas proficiently in a clear and organized manner.  Frequent travel within Canada is required; non-travel days will be in office located in Woodstock ON. The selected candidate must be comfortable in a fast paced, deadline driven environment and bring both a team attitude and business maturity.

Principal Responsibilities

·         Selecting paint colours and colour locations in commercial space

·         Selecting locations for feature walls, signage, way finding and finishes for commercial spaces

·         Preparing paint and finishes schedules to communicate to Project managers and Designers

·         Review architectural drawings and conduct site visits as needed; some travel required

·         Photograph, survey and measure areas in commercial spaces

·         Traveling nationally and adhering to a planed schedule of site visits

·         Communicate information effectively and on time to direct report

Qualifications/Skills

·         College Degree or Diploma in Interior decorating or design

·         Minimum 2 years experience directly related professional experience in a decorating/design role

·         Experience with Commercial Construction and design an asset

·         Knowledge of current design techniques, trends and processes

·         Experience with various interior products paint and building finishes

·         Knowledge of AutoCAD, with ability to edit and create drawings is an asset

·         Knowledge of Photoshop and Creative Suite is an asset

·         Knowledge of sign construction and practices an asset

·         Valid Drivers licence required

·         Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently as projects dictate

·         Strong time management and highly organized

·         Eye for Design with creative and artistic talent, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work

·         Good taste required
